November Necessities / Sephora Haul

I thought I would make my official blog re-launch coincide with Sephora’s Holiday Bonus 20% off sale. Even though #momlife has me looking less than perfect, I still LOVE to spend my money at Sephora/Ulta and try to look somewhat presentable most of the time!

So below are some of my favorite items I’ve recently purchased during the sale. You have until tomorrow (11/15) so start buying! If you are interested in any of the products click on the photo and it will take you directly to Sephora’s website.

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta® Peel Extra Strength Daily Peel

I love love love these daily peels. First of all, I know it’s expensive. Before you even read further, put a little ziplock baggy in your bathroom cabinet and cut the pads in half. There, you doubled your stock. Just try the 5 pack initially so you are not making a huge commitment.

I have used these pads on and off for the last 3 years and always regret when I stop. The smell is horrible I’m not going to lie, but I just assume that means it’s working. I had some dark spots and melasma since having the baby (see next blog post…eventually) and within two days of use the spots have DRAMATICALLY faded. My makeup goes on better, my skin just looks brighter and healthier. I’m telling you, these pads are 100% worth the money.

TAN-LUXE THE FACE Illuminating Self-Tan Drops

I’m not going to lie – I miss being tan. There was something so relaxing about going tanning after work a few times a week. But I’m a mama now and I have to keep myself healthy for my boy, plus I would like to avoid looking like a raisin in 10 years (it’s probably too late). I don’t have the time or patience for self-tanners, but this is SO worth it. Again, it’s a little pricey but the bottle is going to last forever (and I use 4 drops).

I started with the light/medium and am very happy with the results. If you are looking for a more subtle tan, this would be perfect. I put 4 drops with my face moisturizer and mix together a bit then apply. Wash hands with soap & water after because this IS self tanner and you don’t need orange cuticles. I’m adding the body version to my wish list STAT.

Bumble & Bumble Don’t Blow It Thick Hair Styler

I have pretty much given up on blowdrying my hair. Number 1, baby V hates the sound of the blow dryer and and 2, it makes my hair super flat because it’s so thick and heavy. I have been air-drying my hair pretty much since I had the baby and I’m super sad I waited so long to try this. I bought the tiny bottle (because I’m afraid of commitment) and I will definitely buy the full size next order. I washed my hair the other night, put about a quarter-sized amount of this in and waited around for maybe an hour then went to bed. It is always an 100% terrible idea to go to bed with wet hair but I woke up REALLY impressed. Now, for starters I have really wavy hair I basically woke up with the cutest curls/waves and I didn’t have to do anything except mess with my bangs. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT SO MUCH. I can’t imagine how much better this would have made my hair look in the summer.

Sephora Collection Instant Moisturizer + Cream

I got a sample of this moisturizer from Sephora earlier this year and I actually REALLY love it. The jar lasts quite a while and it’s a thick cream – the fragrance is a little strong so you really have to not be bothered by smells. It has Hyaluronic Acid Booster Complex and I use this with the below foundation because it really keeps skin super moisturized.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

I’ve heard amazing things about the Fenty Beauty line and was dying to try the foundation because of the HUGE range in colors. I am not 100% sold on foundation, mostly because I don’t think I’m the best at applying but I love how it looks on other people. I have pretty OK skin and don’t think I need a heavy coverage then I buy a light/medium coverage and think I look a mess. Anyway, this foundation is SO GOOD. I’ve been told by multiple people, if you have even remotely dry skin you need a GREAT primer and moisturizer or it’s gonna look patchy and cling to those dry spots. I used the Sephora moisturizer above and actually a L’Oréal primer (this is for another post). The combo worked great with the foundation and I was really happy with how well it matched. No matter what I never feel like a foundation matches me well and this one is PERFECT.

STILA Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

This is HUGE that I bought this. I have been a devoted follower of Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner for YEARS, never swayed no matter what. I got a sample of the STILA Stay All Day liquid liner in one of my Sephora Play boxes and honestly FELL IN LOVE. It goes on so smooth and really really stays ALL DAY (with primer, duh). Somewhere along the line I feel like Kat Von D’s formula changed in her liner and it just wasn’t the same and seemed really dried out. This is my new favorite and so worth a try if you like liquid liners!

So there you have my 2 cents on what to try out if you are looking to use your Sephora holiday bonus. I am no beauty expert, just someone who LOVES makeup and skincare products. I was not paid by any of these companies and bought all these products with my husband’s hard earned money.

  1. Those tanning drops look like a great idea! I’m starting to notice I’m getting paler than my foundation and definitely need to start self-tanning. I stopped going to tanning beds too, I just don’t want to get skin cancer one day! xo J
